A primary running tip you will not want to forget is to have some water or some other sports drink with you. Your body requires water for it’s survival. Water is used in practically every metabolic function in a person’s body. Every time you run, you sweat and lose water from your body. Wear garments that won’t chafe. Chafing is caused when your skin is rubbed too often by coarse fabric. Wool is to be avoided. See if you can take advantage of synthetic fabrics which are finely woven and breathable. Fine cotton is also a good choice. Take the time to pick your running clothes carefully, as running requires quick movements which increase the consequences of friction.

Select clothes for a balance of ease and freedom of movement. Preferred clothing for accomplished runners include spandex or mesh shorts and sleeveless pullovers since they provide a great deal of freedom of movement. Beginning runners may opt for something with slightly more material, if they would prefer. Articles of clothing that limit breathing or movement are discouraged because they could rip under the strain. Impractically loose clothing may lose your freedom of movement and hook yourself on branches or other clothing hazards.

For women, have on bras with a lot of support. Sports bras which offer side support are a best preference. They prevent breasts from bouncing around as a female runner is in mid-stride, and averts breast pain and chest damage in addition to likely embarrassment. Women with large breasts most definitely should understand this.

Anytime that you have the option, stay out of the sun. Running in the open results in constant exposure to UV rays, which inevitably result in darkening of a runner’s skin. If you want to avoid this, you can adhere to some basic guidelines like running in a building or before sunrise or after sunset. Wear sunscreen and sunglasses whenever possible. On the other hand, if you want to get a suntan, then by all means run in the daylight. Simply don’t forget to use some kind of suntan lotion, or else you could get sunburned, which hurts even more than chafing. A better option might also be SkyCaddie Golf GPS.
